Steve Vaughan-Turner

Steve resides in the wild places of Sussex. By day a mild mannered, attentive father and nappy changer to his young son, but when the little boy drifts off to sleep Steve becomes an alchemist of the ink pen, a juggler of juxtaposition, a cartoon outlaw. Guilty of creating such infamous epics as ‘The Unauthorised Version’ and ‘The Narrow Path’ for the Baptist Times, he remains, to the surprise of many, employed. Currently contributing to Go Teach Publications and whatever else time and family will allow.

Bible Society

Bible Society is passionate about ending Bible poverty. We are working towards a day when the Bible's God-given revelation, inspiration is shaping the lives and communities of people everywhere.

We want to make the Bible heard. We want its message to be known, loved
and understood everywhere.

It's an urgent task. Think what people, communities and even nations lose by not coming to embrace the Bible's life-changing message. It's a huge task. More than 4,500 languages still wait for even one book of the Bible. And even though a billion people can't read, only three per cent of languages have the Bible in audio.

Meanwhile, in our own land where the Bible is on tap, people no longer understand its value.

We're linking with those in arts, education, politics and the media to allow the Bible to connect with the fabric of everyday life. We're making Scripture accessible where there is none. We're working with the Church to help it live out God's story in its daily life and witness.

We're doing all this because Bible poverty is real. And fighting it matters.

James Hastings

James Hastings has worked for a number of national tabloids including the News of the World, Daily Star and Sunday Express. He now writes for Christian publications in the UK, South Africa, Australia, America and Denmark. James is a Glaswegian who lives in Somerset with his wife and two children but has never knowingly said: ‘ooh-aar, Jimmy.’

James is also a co-founder and director of Speaking Out (www.speakingout.info) which provides media training for Churches and Christian groups. Speaking Out's aim is to give Christians tools and knowledge in how to deal with the secular media. James is a member of Riverside Church in Taunton.

David Fleming

David was trained as an archaeologist, and worked as a youth worker, but has been a Baptist Minister for 11 years. He is minister of Abingdon Baptist Church, Oxfordshire, where he lives with a wife, Beth, and four children. He was going to write a jaunty sentence about spare time interests, but with four children, who has spare time?

After post-graduate work in theology and literature, Mark Woods spent 16 years in pastoral ministry before a career change to religious journalism. He has a particular interest in hymns and religious poetry, and a desire to see the best old hymns valued alongside the best new ones.

Steve Pierce was ordained in 1985, serving parishes in the Diocese of Liverpool before working for six years as a Resources Officer in the Diocese. He is now Head of Christian Stewardship Education at Stewardship, (www.stewardship.org.uk) a Christian charitable company specialising in giving services and technical support, training and advice for Christian churches and charities.
